After 21 years of teaching Art to Special Needs students, I decided to retire and start a new career in writing.
I have a BA in Sociology, Art History, and a MA in Art Education. During my Master’s program, I wrote a thesis entitled Art in the Third Reich which explored the limitations of artists under Nazism.
I fell in love with Fala Roosevelt on a trip to Washington DC. While at the Roosevelt Monument. I asked my mom who the dog was sitting next to the President. She replied “That’s Fala! Everyone knew who he was during the war.” Time went on and started to think about Fala and what his thoughts would be during such a turbulent time. That is how the idea of The Memoir of a White House Dog was created. Currently, I am working on the second half of the book about Fala’s life with Eleanor Roosevelt.
